Sired by our foundation bull, Newlands Finnigan out of Wondenia Flute, this bull stood out as a calf. Being born at the end of the year though meant he wasn’t a part of our show team which was unfortunate because he is a very impressive bull. Plenty of style and sire appeal, docile nature, goggled and solid coated, good length, very well balanced but it probably is his back end that is hard to go past. For all of these reasons we decided to try him on a few cows and heifers. His first drop of calves hit the ground in 2017 showing many of their sires attributes but a very dry winter ensued and they did it tough but we are hopeful they will live up to their potential and several will be in the 2018 show team. We will keep you posted on them.
Sired by our foundation sire Newlands Finnigan and out of Wondenia Desire this bull as a calf had champion all over him. He is goggled eyed with excellent hooding and is solid coated and a very deep cherry red colour. He is long, deep and thick with an excellent nature. He was the Interbreed bull at Canberra Royal in 2016. He was put to a few cows in 2017 with his first offspring being born in 2017.
We purchased this bull in early 2017 after a visit to Brenair Park. We were looking for some new bloodlines to complement our existing type and to add a bit of frame. He has great neck extension and SSS coat type. Lemair was 18 months when he arrived at Daraabah and has grown into an impressive bull. We are looking forward to his first drop of calves in 2018.
We purchased this bull at the annual Barana on farm sale. Again we were looking to widen our genetic base and this bull fitted the bill. A goggle eyed, solid red polled bull it is his pedigree that we are most interested in. Currently he is out working and his first calves are expected in mid 2018.
Newlands Finnigan is the foundation bull of Daraabah. He has sired many champions both in the ring and in the paddock. His pedigree shows full South African bloodlines including Kyksim Kaan, Salerika Evan Kykso Haped and Gunzel Giola. He is a horned bull with goggles and a solid coat. His length, muscling and pigment is all coming through into his calves. We have retained many of his bulls and females who continue to breed on.
JJF is out of one of our favourite cows Tennysonvale Fifi and by the AI bull Steinmader. He was impressive from the day he was born. His Mum did a fantastic job on him and considering she was just a heifer she produced an early maturing heavily muscled bull with a very docile nature. He was a certainty for the 2014 show team and at his first showing at Canberra Royal and at just 10 months of age, he was the Grand Champion Fleckvieh bull and then went onto being placed 2nd in the Interbreed. A fantastic feat considering he was just 10 months. To add to all this he is also Homo Poll.
Sired by Newlands Equator, Houston has grown into an impressive polled bull. His dam, Tennysonvale Elite was described by world renown judge Llewellyn Angus, as ‘the ideal cow.’ In 2013 he was part of our show team and at 9 months of age and his first showing at Canberra Royal he was the Grand Champion Fleckvieh bull. He went on to be successful at our local shows and was only beaten at Canberra the next year by our up and coming bull Daraabah Jumping Jack Flash. Houston was put to a few cows in 2013 and produced some very nice calves in 2014. He is also homozygous polled and has proven himself a producer of high quality females.
